Can you reuse modular PSU cables?

Quick answer
Use the cables supplied with the replacement PSU unless its manufacturer explicitly approves your existing cable for that exact model. A plug fitting the socket is not proof of a matching pinout.
First identify which cable you mean
A PSU upgrade involves several different connections. Write down the two endpoints before searching for compatibility; otherwise a correct answer about one cable can be dangerously wrong for another.

NZXT explains that internal modular pinouts can differ even when connectors look alike. Its C Series Gold Core cables are not interchangeable with earlier C Series Gold generations; its PA-model supplies also cannot use the older NP-model C/E Series cables. NZXT cable compatibility guidance.
Corsair Type 3, Type 4 and Type 5
Corsair's compatibility page distinguishes cable families. Its note says Type 3 and Type 4 differ at the 24-pin ATX cable; the other listed cable categories share compatibility between those two types. Type 3/4 cables are not compatible with Type 5 supplies. Use the actual chart for your PSU, including its revision, rather than treating every RM, RMx or SHIFT name as one model. Corsair PSU cable compatibility chart.
For a custom cable set, keep the order record or part number. A label saying “Corsair compatible” without the supported PSU list leaves the important question unanswered. Ask the cable vendor and PSU manufacturer to confirm the exact pairing before installation.
A three-result reuse check

Before removing the old supply
Our suggested preparation is to photograph the old PSU label, separate its cables into a labelled bag and keep the new set separate. Power down and disconnect AC before working inside the computer; follow the case and PSU installation manuals. Do not open the PSU enclosure.
Record the destination of each cable, including SATA-powered accessories that are easy to overlook. Once you have an approved set, route it without forcing the case panel against a connector. Keep model labels and purchase records with the spare cables for the next upgrade.
What about a bigger PSU from the same brand?
Higher wattage does not answer the compatibility question. Look up the new model separately. Likewise, a direct PSU-to-GPU cable and an adapter attached at the GPU end are different products; an approval for one is not an approval for the other.
If the old supply still meets the build's needs, changing it may be unnecessary. Check whether a GPU upgrade calls for ATX 3.1 and use the PSU calculator for an estimate. The calculator cannot inspect cables or certify an existing unit.
