Will a Fractal Flex 2 vertical mount fit your GPU?

Document-based guide · Methodology and limits
Quick answer
Fractal’s Flex 2 adds 15 mm to effective installed GPU length and uses seven bridgeless rear slots. A 345 mm card within the North’s 355 mm front-fan limit can exceed that same length budget after the bracket is installed.
Start with the limit before the bracket
Identify the actual Fractal Flex 2, not a Flex B-20, an integrated vertical mount, or another bracket. The 15 mm adjustment applies to the part described in Fractal’s Flex 2 support note. This worksheet presets the original North and North XL only.
Flex 2 effective length = GPU length + 15 mm.
Remaining length = pre-bracket limit − effective length.
You can instead subtract 15 mm from the case limit, but not both. A limit already given for an installed Flex 2 must not be reduced again. Front cooling may have already reduced the usable length.

Compare horizontal and Flex 2 length
Compare length and record whether you checked the rear openings. This does not approve the full vertical build.

Examples: when turning the card makes it too long
| Layout and card length | Horizontal margin | Length with Flex 2 | Flex 2 margin |
|---|---|---|---|
| North, front fans, 345 mm card | 10 mm | 360 mm | -5 mm |
| North, front-radiator reference, 290 mm card | 10 mm | 305 mm | -5 mm |
| North XL, front fans, 390 mm card | 23 mm | 405 mm | 8 mm |
In the first example, horizontal mounting leaves 10 mm of nominal room, but 345 + 15 = 360 mm is 5 mm beyond the 355 mm budget. The second starts from the 300 mm radiator reference, so that layout is already included. Do not subtract the cooler again.
What to check if the length still works
- Rear panel: the Flex 2 occupies seven horizontal openings with no bars between them. Check display-plug access and whether needed add-in cards occupy that space.
- Side and lower space: confirm the new position of the cooler and power socket against the closed panel, bottom fans and other parts. Length does not tell you the new fan intake or cable bend.
- Riser path: check the riser’s supported link and the exact board/card instructions. If the card is installed but there is no image, follow the separate riser diagnostic guide.
Decision: if horizontal mounting works and the bracket creates a conflict, keeping it horizontal avoids that change. If you need the vertical orientation, verify the other clearances before purchasing. If front-radiator allowance is unknown, resolve the pre-bracket limit first.
